Zeelandia Netherlands joins
forces with Zeeuwind
for a greener future
For those who live in the Netherlands, it’s no surprise: there is a lot of wind. So why not make use of it!
As part of our CSR program and focused on the Clean Energy initiatives, Zeelandia Netherlands signed a contract with Zeeuwind, a local cooperative that builds and exploits windmills and solar power installations. All power used by our largest production site in the Netherlands is green from January 2021 onwards. As a result, the percentage of green energy we use globally will grow from 28% to more than 53%!
With this step, we want to contribute to the transition towards renewable energy and becoming carbon neutral. We do not want to simply buy carbon credits to make our power green but actively connect to companies that increase the total capacity of renewable energy. Our partnership with Zeeuwind includes opening our dashboard to see our real-time electricity use and matching our consumption with the available wind power supply.
This project has created a lot of know-how with the purchasing department about negotiating electrical power contracts. They will support other countries to upgrade to green power!
